Architects and DSWD-NCR build a brighter future for children
IN a showcase of unity and dedication to community partnership, the United Architects of the Philippines (UAP) Pasig Kapitolyo Chapter and the Department of Social Welfare and Development-National Capital Region (DSWD-NCR) came together for a significant event that encompassed a range of initiatives aimed at transforming lives for a community that is very close to the heart of the Pasig Kapitolyo architects. Since the time of its chartering in 2019, it has committed to helping DSWD in its undertaking as a government institution whose mission is to foster children up for adoption.
The series of events were held on Aug. 23, 2023, at two locations — the DSWD RSCC Compound in Bago Bantay, Quezon City, and the Amrak Music Hall on Eugenio Lopez Drive in Timog, Quezon City. It brought together members of the UAP Pasig Kapitolyo Chapter, officials from DSWD-NCR, and the children of the Reception Study Center for Children (RSCC) for a day filled with meaningful activities.
The highlight of the event was the formal signing of a memorandum of agreement (MoA) between UAP Pasig Kapitolyo Chapter, headed by its chapter president, Ar. Joseph Manrea J. Aral, and DSWD-NCR represented by Ms. Glenda M. Derla, head of RSCC DSWD-NCR. This MoA marked the formalization of their partnership in the RSCC DSWD-NCR North Cluster Isolation Facility Building Extension Project – Dining Hall.
The UAP Pasig Kapitolyo Chapter will spearhead the planning and oversight of the RSCC extension facility.
The objective is to construct a mess hall that will be an important addition to the very basic facilities the children are enjoying in the center. Central to this partnership is the commitment to collaboration, as the UAP-PK Chapter pledges to assist this line agency in all of the works that need architects' technical expertise. The volunteer architects offer the needed supervision for the facility's construction.
In a reciprocal gesture, DSWD-NCR will provide all the essential data and information necessary for architectural and engineering plans to be carried out.
It will facilitate access to allow the UAP Pasig Kapitolyo architects to work closely on the project.
