Baby Falcons, Blue Eaglets triumph
MANILA, Philippines — Ateneo and Adamson both soared and scored easy opening-day wins in the UCBL Inter Secondary Tournament at the Veacon Hope Sports Center in Caloocan on Saturday.
The Baby Falcons had a rousing start as they whipped the Philippine Christian University-Dasmariñas Dolphins, 82-61, while the Blue Eaglets dominated the University of Batangas Brahmans, 68-48.
Adamson shrugged off the initial resistance from PCU in the opening frame then steadily pulled away with a charge led by Mark Esperanza and John Umali with 17 and 11 points, respectively.
John Reyes and John Artango contributed 10 points and six rebounds apiece.
Ateneo also came out with guns blazing against UB, racing to an early double-digit spread and rolling to a wire-to-wire victory.
The Blue Eaglets dominated at the get-go, taking the first quarter at 21-10.
Uno Prado, Kris Porter, Third Abdane and Troy de Guzman delivered double-digit numbers. Porter actually had a double-double with 13 points and the same number of rebounds while Prado produced 14 markers and four assists Abdane added 13 points.
