Bamban mayor denies allegations leveled at her

MAYOR Alice Guo of Bamban, Tarlac yesterday denied the allegations leveled against her, including claims she is the protector of the POGO hub raided in her hometown last March.

In a letter to the Senate Committee on Women, Guo denied that Lin Weng Yi is her biological mother and insisted that Amelia Leal is her real mother as listed in her birth certificate.

She said Lin is now the partner and business associate of her father, Angelito.

“Hindi siya ang aking ina (She [Lin] is not my mother),” she said.

She also said her three siblings have different nationalities, adding they have different mothers and grew up separately.

Philippine Statistics Authority records presented during one of the committee hearings showed that Shiela Guo and Siemen Guo are the children of Amelia Leal and Angelito Guo.

The mayor also denied allegations that her father could be involved in money laundering.

“Hindi po ako protector ng POGO! Wala po akong kinalaman sa murder, prostitution, human trafficking, love scam, money laundering at iba pang cybercrimes. Hindi po ako nagnakaw!” Guo said.

The Nationalist People’s Coalition in Tarlac will discuss suggestions to expel Guo from the party due to the controversies hounding her.

NPC president and former Senate president Vicente Sotto III said the NPC-Tarlac would soon meet with other party mates in the province to decide Guo’s fate.

He said the NPC National Council will come up with a decision based on the recommendation of NPC-Tarlac.

Sen. Sherwin Gatchalian, an NPC member, has recommended the expulsion of Guo from the party due to her alleged links with the POGO hub raided in Bamban last March.
