Bringing smiles that shine
CHARLSTON Uy, president and chief executive officer (CEO) of the Uy Dental Clinic (UDC) Group, distinguishes himself among the country's many dental experts by believing and demonstrating that dental care goes beyond merely fixing or treating teeth.
His extensive portfolio shows a wealth of academic and professional credentials that reflect not just his expertise and commitment to lifelong learning but, all the more, his vision for a dental practice that prioritizes patient care and community impact.
Having been raised by a dentist father, Uy is no stranger to dentistry. His exposure to the field has led him to develop a strong desire to enter the profession later in life.
He recalls: «I remember watching my father, a dentist, work with patients. His passion inspired me to pursue a career in dentistry. I was also entrepreneurial as a child; often, setting up small businesses in our neighborhood.»
This influence has led Uy to mirror the example set by his parents, who instilled in him the principles of hard work and compassion — values that UDC embodies today.
He says, «I come from a close-knit family, where my parents emphasized education and service. Their support has been crucial in my journey as a dentist and entrepreneur.»
Uy holds a bachelor's degree in Dental Medicine from the University of East Manila, where he graduated cum laude. He also ranked sixth in the Philippine National Dental Board Licensure Examinations.

The dentist vividly remembers the struggle of building a positive reputation and attracting patients, a lengthy process that demands tremendous effort and resilience to thrive.
Fast forward to today, Uy has successfully opened 18 branches and is looking forward to the opening of two more clinics by the end of the year.
In the same year that he launched his first clinic, Uy also became a faculty member in the Oral Surgery Section at Manila Central University College of Dentistry.
