CEMEX Philippines performed in the top quartile in the S&P Global Corporate Sustainability Assessment 2022

CEMEX Holdings Philippines, Inc. (CHP), a leading cement manufacturer in the Philippines, achieved a notable performance in the S&P Global Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA) 2022, ranking in the 76th percentile of the Construction Materials industry.

This is the first time that CHP participated in the CSA, and it performed well several ESG dimensions, such as Talent Attraction and Retention, Occupational Health & Safety, Operational eco-efficiency, and Business Ethics. It also ranked above industry mean for Environmental, Social, and Governance and Economic indicators.

The S&P Global CSA is an annual evaluation of the sustainability practices of over 10,000 companies around the globe, across different industries covering environmental, social and governance (ESG) criteria. The CSA results are used to determine the composition and weighting of the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI), one of the most prestigious global benchmarks for corporate sustainability.

“We are very proud of this achievement, which reflects the importance of sustainability in our business strategy and creating value for our stakeholders,” said Luis Franco, President and CEO of CHP. “We will continue to pursue excellence in sustainability, as part of our vision to build a better future for everyone,” Franco added.

Meanwhile, CHP also released its 2022 Sustainability Report (SR) magazine titled “Shaping the Future.”

The magazine is an offshoot of the 2022 Sustainability Report of CHP which details CHP’s progress in terms of developing innovative solutions that contribute in building resilient infrastructure, climate-smart urban development, promoting economic growth, preserving the environment, and improving everyone’s quality of life.

“Further, it has the targets and progress in its Future In Action program. This is the company’s plan going forward in achieving sustainable excellence through climate action, circularity, and natural resource management. In 2022, we achieved 18% reduction in CO2 emissions in the last two years (2020-2022). Cemex’s ultimate goal is to become a net-zero CO2 company by 2050,” it said.

Highlights of the report include the achievement of the following:
