Concepcion bags Chairman's Award

THE Philippine Franchise Association (PFA) conferred the Chairman's Award on Go Negosyo founder Joey Concepcion for his efforts to help Filipino micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

Concepcion received the award from PFA Chairman Chris Lim and PFA President Joseph Tambunting in ceremonies on Monday, September 2, at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City.

In his speech, Concepcion thanked the PFA for being mentors to MSMEs through the franchising model.

«There is no other way for our nation to be great unless we help our MSMEs scale up. If they scale up, they can create more jobs, and with more jobs, the Philippine economy will grow faster,» he said.

Concepcion was given the award alongside Greg Nathan, founder of the Franchise Relationships Institute.

The award recognizes and celebrates homegrown and international franchise brands that epitomize excellence in business growth and ethical business practices and have significantly contributed to the success and growth of the Philippine franchising sector, according to PFA's website.

The PFA last conferred the award in 2019. Previous awardees include Philippine Stock Exchange Chairman and former trade secretary Jose Pardo, Employers Confederation of the Philippines Chairman Sergio Ortiz-Luis, and institutions PLDT Inc., Bank of the Philippines Islands and the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).

Over a decade ago, Concepcion founded Go Negosyo, the advocacy arm of the Philippine Center for Entrepreneurship, in an effort to empower the Filipino entrepreneurial and innovative mindset through mentorship and entrepreneurship education for MSMEs.
