CvSU students emerge champions in agri-quiz, art contests

CAVITE State University (CvSU) students emerged as champions in the Agri-Quiz contest during the Agri-Youth Congress held at the International Training Center on Pig Husbandry in Lipa City, Batangas, on October 24.

The CvSU team comprised Bachelor of Science in Agriculture Major in Animal Science students, namely Mark Salvador Casajeros, Abib Tantiangco and Sahrie Higoy. They outperformed eight competing teams from various state universities and colleges. Dr. Mariedel Autriz and Karl Louisse Obispo coached the winning CvSU team.

Two CvSU students also emerged as champions during the 7th Southern Tagalog Regional Association of State Universities and Colleges-Culture and Arts Festival (Strasuc-CAF) held at the Occidental Mindoro State College (OMSC) in San Jose, Occidental Mindoro, from October 16 to 20.

Charles Cresino and Kian Joy Guarin won the gold for the Visual Arts-Charcoal Rendering and Musical Arts-Pops Solo, respectively.

Meanwhile, Dr. Kozo Watanabe, head of the Molecular and Ecology Laboratory at Ehime University, Japan, visited CvSU on October 24 for possible collaboration between the two Asian higher education institutions on various research endeavors.

CvSU President Hernando Robles, CvSU Vice President for Research and Extension Melbourne Talactac, and Research Center Director Miriam Du-Baltazar welcomed Watanabe.

They also discussed possible research activities as Watanabe visited the laboratories and facilities of the CvSU.

Watanabe was assisted by Jomel Limbago, a faculty member of the CvSU-Naic Campus.
