DAR Antique upgrades media competence among its information officers

The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) in Antique has taken a significant step towards enhancing the media competence of its information officers. In a recently concluded Capacity Building Workshop, the participants received comprehensive training on Content Generation and Technical Writing, Designing for Social Media and Smartphone Photography, May 30-31.

Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer (PARPO) II, Florentino Siladan, emphasized the importance of the workshop in his opening remarks.

"In this digital age, the ability to convey our messages clearly and effectively through various media platforms is crucial. This training is part of our continuous effort to ensure that our information officers are well-equipped to promote transparency and keep the public informed about our programs and services," Siladan said.

A total of 19 information officers from the provincial office and municipal clusters participated in the training workshop.

Serving as resource speakers were three personnel of the Department of Agriculture Western Visayas Regional Agriculture and Fisheries Information Section. Ms. Sheila Mae Toreno discussed Content Generation and Technical Writing, Ms. Vivien Nimue Quimpo talked about Social Media Design, and Ms. Khrsyma Dei Caldina discussed Smartphone Photography.

The training also included hands-on workshops where participants practiced drafting news articles, designing social media content, and creative photography. These practical sessions were designed to provide immediate application of the skills learned, ensuring that the information officers are ready to implement their new knowledge in their respective roles.

DAR Antique is committed to continuous capacity-building initiatives to ensure that its staff are well-prepared to meet the demands of modern communication. The training program is part of a broader effort to strengthen the department's reach and engagement with the community, ensuring that the public is well-informed about the DAR's programs and the benefits they bring to the agrarian reform beneficiaries.
