DAR Information Officers elevate skills through intensive workshop on Public and Media Relations

Quezon City — Regional and Provincial Information Officers of the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) took part in a 4-day capacity-building workshop on public and media relations held at the University Hotel, University Hotel, University of the Philippines (UP) Diliman, on November 20-21 and 23-24.

Hosted by the Office of Special Concerns and Externals Affairs and Communications Operations, the workshop marks the culmination of a series of seminar workshops organized by the office throughout the year. Earlier this year, the office organized seminar workshops on strategic planning, strategic communications, media production and management, and technical writing and content generation.

Mr. Mark Lester M. Chico, Assistant Professor from UP Los Banos (UPLB) and Director at the Office of Public Relations, served as the resource speaker, marking the third successful collaboration between DAR and UPLB College of Development Communication.

The intensive workshop featured comprehensive lectures on public and media relations, interactive workshops exploring the best practices in these areas, as well as sessions dedicated to benchmarking and evaluating DAR Regional and Provincial Offices’ public and media relations practices. Participants gained valuable insights and practical knowledge to strengthen their communication and public relations strategies in both traditional and modern forms of media.

This strategic initiative signifies DAR’s dedication to strengthen and expand its national information network to better serve agrarian reform beneficiaries nationwide.

The Office of Special Concerns and External Affairs and Communications Operations, under the leadership of Undersecretary Marilyn B. Barua-Yap, remains steadfast in its commitment to consistently elevate the skills of information officers within the department, reinforcing the foundation of DAR’s national information network.
