DAR IX Strengthens Legal Capacity Through Region-Wide Seminar and Workshop

The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) Region IX successfully concluded its Region-wide Legal and DARAB Enhancement Seminar and Cascading Workshop last July 10-12 at Garden Orchid Hotel, Zamboanga City.

The seminar aimed to provide participants with a strong foundation in the legal procedures involved in resolving agrarian land issues (ALI cases), the intricacies of the Land Conversion Monitoring System (LCMS), the evolution of Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (CARP) Laws and the familiarization of DARAB rules and regulations.

The activity was spearheaded by Regional Director Atty. Ramon Madroñal, Jr., alongside Assistant Regional Directors Atty. Marcelino Marata (Admin & Legal) and Engr. Agnes Maata (Operations).

Resource persons from the DAR Central Office were invited to include Assistant Secretary (ASec) of the Legal Affairs Office, Atty. Virgilio L. Mendez, DARAB Board Members, Atty. Jim G. Coleto, and Atty. McDonald Galit, Atty. Paul Webster M. Mariano, Atty. Roannil C. Ronillo and LCMS Administrator Sheila David. They discussed various topics related to agrarian reform and land issues. Participants had the opportunity to learn from these experts and gain valuable insights into the legal aspects of agrarian reform.

DAR IX Regional Director Ramon E. Madroñal, Jr. emphasized in his message the importance of equipping participants with the knowledge and skills needed to lead effectively the legal landscape surrounding agrarian reform. “By providing participants with a strong foundation in legal procedures and regulations, we are empowering them to serve better the farmers and agrarian reform beneficiaries in our region’” said Madroñal.

In a heartfelt message, Assistant Secretary Virgilio Mendez shared his connection to DAR's mission. He spoke about his lifelong dedication to the agency and his background as a beneficiary of agrarian reform in Bohol, highlighting the success stories made possible through the program.
