DSWD launches online financial literacy drive
THE Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has launched a digital financial literacy campaign dubbed «e-Panalo ang Kinabukasan» among beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps).
«The DSWD undertakes this initiative to help 4Ps beneficiaries adapt to the emerging modern platforms and technology for faster access to various financial online services,» Social Welfare and Development Assistant Secretary Marites Maristela said in a statement on Friday.
Maristela added that the program teaches 4Ps recipients how to handle financial transactions online and access digital financial service providers.
She said the initiative aims to minimize the expenses of 4Ps beneficiaries living in rural areas that need to travel to ATM locations to withdraw subsidies.
«Other alternatives, such as e-wallets, may be more accessible to them,» Maristela added.
The DSWD has been conducting financial literacy training for 4 million 4Ps beneficiaries across the country.
The e-Panalo ang Kinabukasan program would facilitate the integration of 4Ps beneficiaries into the country's financial system, Maristela said.
