Focus on crisis, not on politics, Sara tells supporters

VICE President Sara Duterte appealed to her supporters to «stop thinking about politics» and focus first on the «impending crisis» of increasing prices amid ongoing tensions across the globe.

Her statement comes after her supporters showed displeasure on social media over the supposed removal of confidential funds from both the Office of the Vice President (OVP) and the Department of Education (DepEd).

They also claimed that the House leadership, led by Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez, allegedly connived with the «enemies» of the state to remove her funds.

In a message posted on her official Facebook page, Duterte thanked those who continue to support both the Office of the Vice President and the Department of Education.

She added that the public's strong support of her work and her contribution to positive change for the country's progress gives her the strength and inspiration to continue her job.

She understands the frustration and anger of her supporters over the budget and over her confidential funds.

«Ang mga hamon sa pamumulitika ay maliit lamang kompara sa mas matinding pagsubok sa ating ekonomiya bilang epekto ng posibleng paglaki ng tunggalian ng Israel at Hamas at tumatagal na digmaan sa pagitan ng Ukraine at Russia. (These political challenges are nothing compared to the challenges that our economy is facing as an effect of the escalating feud between Israel and Hamas and the prolonged war between Ukraine and Russia), » she stressed.

She called on her supporters instead to prepare for what she called a «season of hardship,» especially with rising costs of food and other commodities.
