Gonzales quits PDP-Laban

House Senior Deputy Speaker and Pampanga 3rd District Rep. Aurelio «Dong» Gonzales Jr. has resigned from PDP-Laban.

During the plenary session on Monday, the House of Representatives adopted House Resolution 1414 «to uphold the integrity and honor of the House of Representatives and to express appreciation, solidarity and support to the leadership of Speaker Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez.»

Before the House voted on the resolution, Albay 1st District Rep. Edcel Lagman made a query as he said the resolution «is rather vague.» Lagman asked who has degraded the House.

«I'm asking this question not to question the resolution but to give it some anchorage,» he said.

Before he named the person who «attacked» the House, Gonzales Jr. resigned from the PDP-Laban.

«Before I will answer your question, Mr. President of the PDP party are you here? Mr. President Congressman [Jose] Alvarez, the one who uttered that word is our chairman from PDP-Laban. Before I will answer, I will resign now as member and officer of PDP-Laban.»

Gonzales then named former president Rodrigo Duterte.

Duterte had called the House «rotten» after lawmakers removed the confidential funds of the Office of the Vice President and the Department of Education, both under his daughter, Sara Duterte- Carpio.
