High pressure area affects Luzon
MANILA, Philippines: Two weather systems – the easterlies and high pressure area (HPA) — are expected to bring warmer and more humid weather in the coming days, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said on Monday.
Weather specialist Robert Badrina said the ridge or the extension of HPA is particularly affecting the eastern sections of Northern and Central Luzon.
The HPA is typically associated with fair weather and weak winds, the weather agency said. With its presence, cloud formations are unlikely which indicate less chance of rain.
Meanwhile, the easterlies — winds coming from the east that pass through the Pacific Ocean and carry warm and humid weather — will bring isolated rain showers or thunderstorms in Metro Manila and the rest of the country.
The ridge of HPA extends across Luzon and Visayas while the easterlies prevail in the eastern section of Mindanao, Pagasa said.
