Hong Kong supermarkets carry PH products

Filipinos in Hong Kong can satisfy their cravings for Philippine food products that they can buy in two supermarket chains there.

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), through the Philippine Trade and Investment Center (PTIC)-Hong Kong, on Monday said that Filipino food products are now available in Wellcome and Market Place.

Some of the Filipino products available in the two supermarket chains are Argentina Corned Beef, M.Y.SAN Skyflakes, Condensada, Mama Sita's Meat Stew Mix, Oishi Cracker Salt Vinegar, Del Monte Sweet, and 555 Sardines Tomato Sauce.

The sale started on October 6 and will last until November 2 through the DFI Retail Group, the leading pan-Asia retailer launched a campaign entitled Philippine Savours."

«The presence of these Filipino food products in local supermarket chains other than traditional Filipino and Southeast Asian products specialty stores reflects the scale of the Filipino community in Hong Kong,» the DTI said.

«Also, the continuous growth of acceptability of the mainstream consumer for Filipino food products in the territory,» it added. «The PTIC-Hong Kong will continuously promote and work with department stores, specialty stores, grocery stores, convenience stores, drugstores, discount stores, and superstores located in Hong Kong and Macau to bring in Philippine Flavours.»

The agency said the campaign may be extended based on the market response.

Meanwhile, it said that 17 Philippine companies will participate in this year's Mega Show 2023 on October 20-23, 2023 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.
