IBP-Cebu crowned champion in 2024 IBP-Eastern Visayas basketball tourney | The Freeman

The Integrated Bar of the Philippines-Cebu Chapter sealed its unbeaten run with a 72-53 thrashing of IBP-Cebu City in their lopsided final match to emerge as champion of the 2024 IBP Eastern Visayas Basketball Tournament last June 12 at the Bohol Wisdom School (BWS) Gym in Tagbilaran City.

Emman Malazarte, a top varsity player of the Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-AdC) Magis Eagles during his high school days, paced IBP-Cebu with 13 points.

Malazarte’s consistent performance throughout the two-day league earned him the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award.

Jessie Capoy also nailed 13 markers, while Gerard Ace Pelare, spokesperson of the Police Regional Office (PRO)-Central Visayas, added 10 points for IBP-Cebu, which never looked back after getting off to a hot 24-12 start.

After padding its lead to 44-26 at halftime, IBP-Cebu sustained its relentless offensive the rest of the way to come up with a masterful 19-point demolition.

Under the guidance of playing coach Bong Pepito, the other members of IBP-Cebu team are Fermin Pepito, Ryan Sojor, Danrey Cabataña, Angelito Ortiz, Red de la Cerna, Barry Busi, Louys Llanos, Tito Apolinario, Edward Kong, Meg Miralles, and RC Galo. Their team manager is Mike Hubahib.
