Imee out to save UniTeam, eyes talk with PRRD

SEN. Imee Marcos yesterday said she will do everything to “salvage” the UniTeam following cracks that are slowly dividing the tandem of her brother, President Marcos Jr, and Vice President Sara Duterte, daughter of former President Rodrigo Duterte (PRRD) who recently issued harsh statements against the Chief Executive.

“I am determined to salvage whatever shreds remain of that unity … It is good for our country, it’s good for development and for our future,” the senator said in an interview on ANC.

Senator Marcos earlier acknowledged the UniTeam, which was formed for the 2022 elections, is not as solid as it was before because of intrigues sown by “demons” surrounding her younger brother.

She said the principals — the President and the Vice President — are in good terms and those who are clinging to Malacañang’s hemline are instigating fighting.

Marcos said she was the one who “authored” the UniTeam, and vowed to fight for the unity of her brother and the vice president.

She also recalled it was she who convinced Sara to be her brother’s running mate.

“We determined to coin the name from me as well, UniTeam,” she said.

The senator said she will take the opportunity to talk with former President Duterte, the vice president’s father, on the sidelines of a hearing she will conduct in Davao City today (February 2) in relation to the buying of signatures for the people’s initiative campaign to amend the Constitution.

She said will try “simply to try to patch things up because to my mind, the principals continue to work with each other very happily except when interference from so many other pressures, influences, and other politicians come in. That’s the problem,” she said.

Marcos said she is confident that the cracks between her brother and the Dutertes will soon be fixed.

PDEA has denied this.

The former president made
