Itbayat, Batanes remains under Signal No.2 as 'Jenny' exit PAR

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, October 5) —Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 2 is still raised over Itbayat, Batanes as Typhoon Jenny (international name: Koinu) has left the Philippine area of responsibility, the state weather bureau said Thursday.

In a 5 p.m. bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Signal No. 2 is also raised over the rest of Batanes, while Signal No. 1 is hoisted over Babuyan Islands, the northern portion of Cagayan, the northern portion of Apayao, and the northern portion of Ilocos Norte.

The agency warned of possible flooding and landslides especially in high-risk areas and those that have experienced rains in the past several days.

Jenny also continues to enhance the southwest monsoon, or habagat, which will bring light to moderate rains over the western portions of Luzon. Gusty weather conditions are also expected in the southern portion of Aurora, Romblon, and portions of CALABARZON, Metro Manila, Bataan, and Bicol Region.

A gale warning also remained in effect for the coastal waters along the northern and western seaboards of Northern Luzon.

Jenny was last spotted 275 km west northwest of Itbayat, Batanes, packing maximum sustained winds of 140 km/h near the center and gustiness of up to 170 km/h.
