June 24 a holiday in Manila
MALACANANG has declared June 24, Monday, a special non-working holiday in Manila as it celebrates its 453rd founding anniversary.
“It is but fitting and proper that the people of the City of Manila be given full opportunity to participate in the occasion and enjoy the celebration,” said Proclamation No. 599 which declared the holiday.
Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin, on the authority of President Maros Jr., signed the proclamation order on June 19.
Manila, capital of the Philippines, was established on June 24, 1571 by Spanish conquistador Miguel Lopez de Legazpi.
