Korean in road mishap dies | The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines — The Korean national also died in the hospital hours after his sports utility vehicle (SUV) he was driving rammed several vehicles along Pope John Paul II Avenue, Mabolo Cebu City last Saturday morning.

Police Lt. Col. Janette Rafter, deputy director for operations at the Cebu City Police Office, said the driver of the Ford Expedition SUV identified as Jaehyun Lee died at 6:35 Saturday evening due to serious injuries.

Earlier reports said that Lee was traversing Pope John Paul II Ave. when he hit a Toyota Vios sedan driven by Marc Dominic Arante.

Arante reportedly disembarked from his vehicle to confront Lee but the Korean sped off but Lee’s SUV hit another Toyota Vios driven by Erwin Conson.

Lee reportedly continued driving until he hit a motorcycle driven by Jomarie Bernas, causing the latter’s death. The Korean still didn’t stop until he hit two bicycle riders identified as John Rin Lindra and Adrian Seguera who were both injured.

The Korean continued driving until he lost control of the steering wheel and slammed into an electric concrete post. The SUV turned upside down because of the impact.

The Korean was found bleeding and lying on the ground near the SUV.

The Korean was married to a Filipina and has a business here.

The police were supposed to file charges for reckless imprudence resulting in homicide, multiple serious physical injuries and damage to properties against the foreigner. — (FREEMAN)
