LPA trough, shear line to bring rains

MANILA, Philippines — The trough of a low-pressure area (LPA) and the shear line will bring rains over parts of the country today, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

State weather forecasters said the LPA remained outside the Philippine area of responsibility yesterday, but its trough is affecting parts of the country.

The LPA is forecast to move closer to the country’s landmass in the next few days. It is not expected to develop into a tropical cyclone.

PAGASA said the trough of the LPA would bring scattered rains over Caraga and Davao.

Meanwhile, the shear line is affecting the northern section of Northern Luzon.

Scattered rains are forecast over Batanes due to the shear line.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country may experience isolated rains due to the shear line and localized thunderstorms.

PAGASA warned the public of flash floods or landslides during moderate to heavy rain.
