Man held for brandishing gun

MANILA, Philippines — A man was arrested in Valenzuela City on Tuesday for allegedly brandishing a firearm in a public place.

The suspect, whom police identified as alias Roberto, 64, allegedly pulled out a handgun and pointed at a person who cautioned him about buying an alcoholic beverage while a liquor ban was in effect.

The incident happened on Monday at around 4 p.m. but was only reported to the police the following day, Northern Police District director Brig. Gen. Rizalito Gapas said.

Acting on the information, police apprehended the suspect along a road in Barangay Maysan at around 11:45 a.m. on Tuesday.

Police confiscated a .38-caliber handgun from the suspect, who is facing complaints of grave threat, illegal possession of a firearm and violation of the gun ban.
