MILF member killed, 5 others hurt in explosions

COTABATO CITY, Philippines — A member of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) was killed while five others were wounded in explosions in Cotabato and Maguindanao del Sur on Thursday.

Patuna Pigi was with a group of 10 MILF members in Barangay Pindetin in Salibo, Maguindanao del Sur when a roadside bomb exploded, the Maguindanao police and Army’s 601st Infantry Brigade said in separate reports.

Several hours later, five members of the MILF’s 118th Base Command were wounded in a grenade attack at their makeshift shelter in Barangay Bagolibas in Aleosan town.

Cotabato police director Col. Harold Ramos said the wounded MILF members were taken to the Aleosan District Hospital for treatment.
