NCRPO gives free rides to commuters

THE transportation strike held on Monday, October 16, 2023, was hardly felt with classes suspended and local government units, various government agencies and the Philippine National Police giving out free rides.

The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) helped commuters reach their destination by deploying vehicles.

Metro Manila police chief Brig. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said that the five police districts and the Regional Mobile Force Battalion were given instructions to help commuters.

The police districts in Manila, Quezon City, the northern, southern and eastern Police District started giving free rides as early as 4 a.m.

A total of 88 vehicles from the five police districts were deployed, Nartatez said.

More than 2,000 police personnel were also deployed in areas of concern, particularly at passenger pick-up and drop-off points.
