NGCP: Luzon, Visayas grids on yellow alert anew
MANILA, Philippines – The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) announced Wednesday that the Luzon and Visayas grids are both placed under a yellow alert.
A yellow alert is issued «when the operating margin is insufficient to meet the transmission grid's contingency requirement.»
As of 6:18 a.m. Wednesday, the Visayas grid had an available capacity of 2,961 megawatts (MW), with a peak demand of 2,625 MW and will be on yellow alert from 1 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 7 p.m.
On the other hand, the Luzon grid had 14,818 MW of available capacity and a peak demand of 13,628 MW. It will be on yellow alert from 1 to 4 p.m. and 8 to 9 p.m.
Last Tuesday, both grids were on yellow alert, which was lifted at 9:11 p.m. for the Visayas grid, and 10:51 p.m. for the Luzon grid.
