Nismo celebrates 40 years of performance and passion

NISSAN is celebrating a major milestone as its high-performance division, Nismo (Nissan Motorsport International Co. Ltd.), marked last month its 40th anniversary. Established on Sept. 17, 1984, Nismo has become synonymous with Nissan's dedication to speed, innovation and exhilaration both on the racetrack and on the road.

Founded in Omori, Tokyo, Nismo has been the powerhouse behind some of Nissan's most iconic motorsports achievements and performance vehicles. The division has championed the philosophy of «Track to Road,» applying lessons learned from the rigors of the racetrack to enhance the performance and driving experience of everyday Nissan road cars.

To commemorate the occasion, Nissan's Global Headquarters Gallery in Yokohama is hosting a special exhibition featuring a mix of legendary Nismo vehicles. Among the highlights are the ultra-rare Nismo 270R and the revered Nismo 400R, along with motorsports icons like the Nissan R390 GT1, which secured a podium finish at the 1998 24 Hours of Le Mans. Also on display are the 24 Hours of Daytona-winning Nissan R91CP and the Calsonic Skyline GT-R, a standout in the Japan Touring Car Championship (JTCC). Visitors also view the latest models from Nismo's domestic lineup, including the newly launched Ariya Nismo, Aura Nismo, and the Fairlady Z Nismo. The exhibition runs until Oct. 15, 2024.
«We would like to thank everyone who has supported Nismo since 1984. Our ethos of 'track to road' continues to drive us forward as we innovate through our Super GT and Formula E factory racing programs,» Nissan Global Motorsports Chief and President of Nismo Takao Katagiri said.

Looking ahead, Katagiri emphasized the division's commitment to expanding its global presence. «Our goal is to deliver excitement both on the track and through high-performance models that fans can enjoy on the road. We are focused on progressively expanding our lineup to bring more Nismo cars to customers around the world,» he added.
For fans, the celebration will culminate at the 2024 Nismo Festival on December 1 at the Fuji International Speedway in Shizuoka Prefecture. Dedicated to Nismo's 40th anniversary, the event will pay tribute to the
