Marcos, Duterte sons file CoCs

(UPDATES) THE sons of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and former president Rodrigo Duterte on Monday filed their certificates of candidacy (CoCs) as they seek to retain their seats in the House of Representatives.

Sandro Marcos is running for reelection in Ilocos Norte's 1st district.

Paolo Duterte, a reelectionist in Davao City's 1st district, filed his CoC through lawyer Elijah Pepito.

The filing of CoCs for next year's elections ends today, October 8.

Also submitting her CoC Monday was Sen. Cynthia Villar, who will be running this time for congressman in Las Piñas' lone district.

Villar will be the candidate of the Nacionalista Party.

«My term at the Senate will end in 2025, and I thought that in [the House of Representatives], I can continue my advocacy in agriculture and environment. At the same time, I can help my constituents with more livelihood projects, infrastructure, housing, and environmental protection,» she said.

Villar was chairman of the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Food, and Agrarian Reform.

Accompanying her at the Commission on Elections (Comelec) National Capital Region office was her husband, former senator Manuel Villar; their daughter, House Deputy Speaker and Las Piñas Rep. Camille Villar; and son, Sen. Mark Villar.

Also among Monday's CoC filers were Manila 5th District Rep. Irwin Tieng, former lawmaker Amado Bagatsing, who will run in the same district; Rose Nono Lin for congressman in Quezon City's fifth district; and reelectionists Gustavo Tambunting in Parañaque City's 2nd district, Pasay City congressman Antonino Calixto, and La Union 1st District Rep. Francisco Paolo Ortega V.
