NUNS, KMS spikers punch semis tickets

MANILA, Philippines — Powerhouse National University-Nazareth School rolled past UAAP colleague Far Eastern U-Diliman, 25-6, 25-23, 25-17, and punched a semifinal ticket in the 2024 Shakey’s Girls Volleyball Invitational League yesterday at the Adamson University Gym.

Diza Berayo sizzled with 18 points on 13 hits, three blocks and two aces as the Lady Bullpups shored up their redemption tour after a bridesmaid finish to Adamson in the UAAP Season 86 girls’ volleyball.

“Honestly, yung 3-0 game na ‘to, hindi ko ine-expect. Hindi siguro din nila ine-expect. Alam naman namin na hindi kami kumpleto pero kasi pinaghandaan din naman namin sila,” said NUNS head coach Norman Miguel.

In the other quarterfinal pairing, Kings’ Montessori School swept Bethel Academy College, 25-17, 25-23, 25-17, to also secure a seat in the Final Four.

Shahanna Lleses led the barrage with 18 points while her sister Shekaina Lleses added 11 in KMS’ semis march after eliminating UAAP bet Santo Tomas in the pool play.

Kings’ Montessori will face last year’s bronze medalist Bacolod Tay Tung, which beat Arellano University, 25-17, 25-21, 25-20.
