OCTA: 36% of Pinoys pro-Marcos; 16% pro-Duterte

AT least 36 percent of Filipinos consider themselves pro-Marcos or supportive of the administration of President Marcos Jr. while close to 16 percent said they are pro-Duterte or supportive of the Dutertes and their political alliance, the June 26 to July 1 Tugon ng Masa (TNM) survey of OCTA Research showed.

The survey, which involved 1,200 adult respondents with a margin of error of ±3 percent, also showed that 31 percent of Filipinos said they are neither pro-Marcos, pro-Duterte nor do they support the opposition, while 5 percent said they support the opposition. Eleven percent do not know or refuse to say their political preference.

OCTA said the pro-Marcos rose by five points from 31 percent in March while the pro-Duterte dropped by four points from 20 percent.

Those who are neither pro-Marcos, pro-Duterte or pro-opposition rose by 2 points from 29 percent while the pro-opposition was statistically unchanged from 4 percent. Those who do not know or refused to say their political preference dropped by 4 points from 15 percent.

OCTA said the pro-Marcos ranged between 25 percent to 43 percent across geographical locations, with the highest coming from the National Capital Region (NCR) with 43 percent, followed by those from Luzon (42 percent), the Visayas (32 percent) and Mindanao (25 percent), and between 25 percent to 40 percent among socio-economic classes with the highest from Class ABC (40 percent), followed by Class D (37 percent) and Class E (25 percent).

The majority of Mindanaoans said they are pro-Duterte (50 percent), followed by those from the Visayas (11 percent), NCR (7 percent), and Luzon (5 percent) while those supportive of the Dutertes were highest among socio-economic class E (33 percent) followed by Class D (16 percent) and ABC (4 percent).

Pro-opposition garnered their highest support from the Visayas (16 percent) followed by those from NCR (5 percent), and Luzon (3 percent); and from Class E (8 percent) followed by Class D (5 percent) and Class ABC (2 percent).
