OCTA, DOH warn vs fake surveys, posts

MANILA, Philippines — The OCTA Research group yesterday warned against fake reports claiming that the group has conducted a survey on noontime television show ratings.

The Department of Health (DOH) issued a similar warning against fake social media posts.

“It has just come to our attention that fake news using the OCTA logo has been circulating on social media,” OCTA said in a statement.

“OCTA Research would like to clarify that we did not undertake, nor have we ever undertaken, the study circulated on social media claiming that ‘Showtime is leading Eat Bulaga in an OCTA survey.’ This is false information intended to misinform the public,” it added.

The group warned the media and the general public from sharing the report.

It also issued a warning that it would take legal action against those responsible for the unauthorized use of its logo.

The DOH warned the public against fake social media posts promoting the government’s Malasakit Program office as a lending center.

 In an advisory, the DOH clarified “that no such support services or offices exist at present.”

“The (accounts) are fake, and are not in any way or form affiliated with the DOH,” it added, referring to the Malasakit Center Corp. and Malasakit Lending Corp.’s Facebook pages.

The DOH warned those responsible for the fake Facebook pages of legal action if the posts persist.
