P3 million drugs in parcels seized in Pasay

MANILA, Philippines — Anti-narcotics operatives intercepted P3 million worth of illegal drugs in Pasay City on Friday.

Col. Dionisio Bartolome Jr., director of the police Drug Enforcement Group, said the prohibited drugs were seized during an interdiction operation at the Central Mail Exchange Center along Domestic Road at around noon.

Seized were parcels that contained 1.52 kilos of the party drug ecstasy, marijuana and methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu as well as 34 vape cartridges with tetrahydrocannabinol, a psychoactive constituent of cannabis.

The illegal drugs were turned over to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) for documentation and disposal.

A parcel sent from Canada by the Abdul Jakul Sex Toy Co. to JC Sarmiento of San Mateo, Rizal contained 116 grams of kush, a type of high-grade marijuana.

The second parcel was declared to contain a cushion repair kit and was sent by EOS Upholstery of South El Monte, California to Tine Tungpalan of Ilocos Norte. The parcel contained 225 grams of kush and eight vape cartridges.

The third parcel – sent by Cocoy Ortaleza of San Francisco to Andy Ortaleza of Angeles, Pampanga – contained 114 grams of shabu. The parcel was declared to contain a Nintendo game/play station.

The last parcel was sent by Carson Lawrence of Falcon, Missouri to Mark Tuazon of Pasay City and contained 26 vape cartridges, 12 grams of kush and 32 grams of high-grade marijuana.

Meanwhile, around 9.66 grams of shabu valued at P65,688 were seized during a sting in Navotas City on Friday.

Three people whom police identified through their aliases as Daniel, Botchok and Unyo were arrested in the drug bust in Barangay Tangos North at around 12:29 a.m., city police chief Col. Mario Cortes said.
