Pagasa monitors cloud clusters outside PAR that may form into LPA

MANILA, Philippines — The state-run weather agency said on Wednesday that it spotted cloud clusters east of Mindanao but was still outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) and may develop into a low pressure area (LPA).

Weather specialist Robert Badrina of the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said these cloud formations may intensify into an LPA either throughout the day or Thursday.

«In fact, there is also a likelihood that this (LPA) would intensify into a tropical depression,» said the Pagasa forecaster who added that it may enter PAR.

«But it is still away, there are still other possibilities to happen,» Badrina said.

In the meantime, he said the cloud clusters would be bringing rain over the eastern part of Visayas, Bicol Region and Mindanao until over the weekend.

The state weather bureau said it would remain hot, especially during noontime until mid-afternoon due to the easterlies which could also bring isolated rain showers or thunderstorms, particularly in the late afternoon or at night over Metro Manila and the rest of the country.
