Peralta named PNP OIC

MANILA, Philippines — President Marcos has designated police Lt. Gen. Emmanuel Peralta as officer-in-charge of the Philippine National Police (PNP) as the term of its current chief, Gen. Benjamin Acorda, ended yesterday.

“Please be informed that Lt. Gen. Emmanuel Baloloy Peralta is designated as concurrent Officer-in-Charge, Office of the Chief, PNP, effective 31 March 2024, until a replacement is appointed or until otherwise directed by this office,” a March 27 memorandum from the Office of the President signed by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin read.

Acorda turned 56, the mandatory retirement age for PNP personnel, on Dec. 3 last year. The President extended his term until March 31 this year.

Peralta previously served as director of the Police Regional Office 1 and the Southern Police District of Metro Manila.

Peralta and Acorda belong to Philippine Military Academy “Sambisig” Class of 1991. In a statement, the PNP said that they extend their gratitude to Marcos for designating Peralta to lead the Philippine police force.
