PNU honors 10 outstanding educators on World Teachers' Day

THE Philippine Normal University (PNU) honored 10 outstanding educators from the main and four campuses during a celebration commemorating the World Teachers' Day held at the PNU Geronima Pecson Main Auditorium in Manila on Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2024, PNU President Bert Tuga, PhD, informed.

World Teachers' Day is an annual celebration held on October 5, with the goal of recognizing the invaluable contributions of teachers to education and society, promoting the teaching profession, and addressing issues surrounding teacher development, rights, and working conditions.

PNU Vice President for Academics Marilyn Balagtas, PhD, paid tribute to her fellow educators and urged them to continue inspiring future generations of learners.

Meanwhile, Tuga discussed the enduring significance of the profession and how it plays a pivotal role in creating learning experiences and developing critical thinkers, compassionate citizens and future leaders.

Award-winning student performer Trisha Piñon serenaded the audience with her rendition of the song «Shine,» as a fitting choice for recognizing the top-performing faculty members.

Accordingly, the top three educators from each faculty and institute, as well as from each campus, were recognized for their impressive teaching approaches, which had not gone unnoticed by their students.

Likewise, the top 10 performers across the PNU system were acknowledged with Clemente Aguinaldo Jr., PhD, of PNU North Luzon securing the top spot.
