Press Release - Fisherfolk express gratitude to Senators Alan, Pia for livelihood assistance

A total of 60 fisherfolk in Catanauan, Quezon expressed their gratitude for the livelihood assistance they received from the offices of Senators Alan Peter and Pia Cayetano.

In partnership with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) through its Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP), the teams of Senator Alan Peter and Senator Pia Cayetano provided assistance to each group to help the beneficiaries in their livelihood endeavors.

Alvin Garcia Villalbia, head of Samahan ng Kalingang Pangkabuhayan SLP Association, said the assistance they received will help sustain their group.

"Ito po ay talagang malaking katulungan. Maraming-maraming salamat po sa ating Senador Pia at Alan Peter Cayetano," he said.

Edwardo Badida, head of Bagong Pag-unlad SLP Association, was also thankful for the aid the group received.

"Sa kagaya po naming hikahos, at gustong makadama ng unting biyaya, malaking bagay po ito [livelihood assistance]," he said.

"Makakatulong hindi lang po sa akin, hindi lang po sa mga member ko, kundi sa mga kapwa ko dahil pwede naming silang mapa-order ng bigas o isda na hindi masyado tataas ang presyo," he added.

The SLP is a sustainability initiative that allows one member from each family benefiting from the 4Ps program to choose between starting their own micro-business through the Microenterprise Development (MD) track or participating in job matching and skills training through the Employment Facilitation (EF) track.

The SLP initiative in Catanauan, Quezon, was successful due to the efforts and participation of Catanauan Mayor Ramon Orfanel Vice Mayor Manuel Montano, DSWD Project Development Officer Naidie Rivera, and Althea Santiago, MSWD.

The recipients of the beneficiaries can expect further assistance from the offices of the sibling senators.

"Ako po ay natutuwa dahil may kasunod pa po ito na pondo. Kayo-kayo rin ang pagbibigyan," Mayor Orfanel said.

Nasa 60 na mangingisda sa Catanauan, Quezon ang nagpaabot ng kanilang pasasalamat para sa tulong pangkabuhayan na kanilang natanggap mula sa opisina nina Senador Alan Peter at Pia Cayetano.
