QCPD vows to sustain 2023 gains

MANILA, Philippines — Officials of the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) vowed to sustain their gains last year to keep Quezon City safe and secure for its residents, workers and visitors.

QCPD director Brig. Gen. Redrico Maranan led police officials in assuring the city government of its commitment during the traditional New Year’s Call on Mayor Joy Belmonte on Jan. 4.

Maranan also lauded Belmonte for her unwavering support to the city’s police force. In response, the local chief executive thanked the QCPD for maintaining peace and order that keeps their constituents safe from criminals.

The QCPD earlier reported that the New Year revelries in Quezon City were generally peaceful, with no other major untoward incident except for a security guard who indiscriminately fired his handgun in Barangay Baesa.

The suspect will be charged with violating Republic Act 11926, the law penalizing the indiscriminate discharge of firearms, and RA 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.

Maranan said the QCPD’s intensified campaign against illegal drugs and other forms of crimes was a factor in the peaceful celebration of the New Year.
