Quality management system prioritized, DAR Caraga undergoes ISO 9001:2015 awareness orientation-workshop

Strong on its heels of furthering quality standards and services, DAR Caraga officials and employees of the regional office are yet again trained and equipped with the necessary knowledge geared towards an eventual International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 9001:2015 Quality Management System (QMS) certification.

This orientation-workshop which runs from April 15-17 is aimed at tackling ISO 9001, a internationally-renownedstandard for quality management, helps organizations of all sizes and sectors to improve their performance, meet customer expectations and demonstrate their commitment to quality. Its requirements include how to establish, implement, maintain, and continually improve a quality management system or QMS.

Held at Almont Inland Resort, Butuan City, the orientation-workshop was opened by Regional Director Atty. Merlita S. Capinpuyan by highlighting the importance of conducting such as one of its milestone targets for CY 2024 as this take-off activity will, "lead us to become more appreciative and knowledgable of our work which will certainly positively affect all our clients, especially the farmer beneficiaries."

RD Capinpuyan also stressed the commitment required for this endeavor to be successful as it is a "very tedious and time-consuming but worth-while undertaking so let us listen and become prepared for the challenge that is the next five (5) months."

OIC-Assistant Regional Director Joie L. Ceballos, as one of the lead advocates for this orientation-workshop, also explained that "this is all to instill awareness and understanding of ISO and to build and enhance our processes and procedures in the regional office." He is hopeful that by the end of the 3rd quarter the regional office will be ISO-certified.

Serving as subject-matter expert, Ms. Cristina Lazaro, which has already had more than a decade of experience in ISO consultancy, expressed that she is confident that DAR Caraga will achieve its goals through her assistance. She further continued by saying that, "there is no reason to fear ISO as it will actually the organization in increasing work accountability and transparency."
