Quezon City issues Undas guidelines

MANILA, Philippines — The Quezon City government yesterday issued an advisory on the policies and protocols that will be implemented in public cemeteries and columbarium during the commemoration of All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day.

According to the city government, interment operations will be suspended from Oct. 31 to Nov. 2 to give way to the expected increase in number of Filipinos who will visit their departed loved ones. Normal operations will resume on Nov. 3.

Meanwhile, the cleaning of tombs and graves is allowed only until 5 p.m. on Oct. 30.

The city’s two public cemeteries, located in Bagbag and Novaliches, will be open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Oct. 31 to Nov. 2. The Baesa Columbarium will be closed on these dates except for scheduled cremation.

Private parking will not be allowed in the public cemeteries on these dates.

The local government said vendors are allowed to operate outside the public cemeteries but must follow certain rules set by the city’s market development and administration department.

The city also advised those experiencing COVID symptoms to defer their visit to cemeteries.
