Road rage leaves one dead in Makati

A CAR driver was killed in a shooting incident that police said could be a case of road rage on the southbound lane of the EDSA Ayala tunnel in Makati City yesterday afternoon.

An initial report provided by Ayala Police Community Precinct Station commander Maj. Anthony Bagsik showed the still unidentified driver of a white Toyota Innova with plate number NCV 5421 was shot dead while traveling on the avenue by an unnamed person driving a sedan at around 2 p.m.

The victim’s car rammed multiple motorcycles after he was shot.

“Prior to the incident, according to witnesses, both the unidentified victim and (the) suspect, while traversing the Kalayaan flyover southbound heading towards EDSA Ayala southbound, Barangay Urdaneta had a road rage,” the police report said.

Bagsik said pursuit operations are being conducted against the suspect who immediately fled the scene.

The incident prompted the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority to temporarily close the southbound lane of EDSA Ayala while the scene of the crime operatives conducted an investigation.

The MMDA opened the southbound tunnel to motorists at 4:10 p.m.

The agency said they have also provided the police with footage taken by the closed-circuit television camera in the area to help in the investigation.
