HANGZHOU – Filipina rower Joanie Delgaco found the waters of Hangzhou to her liking as she finished second in her semifinal heat Friday and advanced to the medal race on Monday at the Fuyang Water Sports Center. Delgaco, a gold medalist in the 2019 SEA Games, crossed the finish line of the 2,000-meter race in 8:18.30 behind Japan’s Shiho Yonekawa (8:06.32) and just ahead of Win Wun Leung of Hong Kong (8:20.35).

They will join Anna Prakaten of Uzbekistan (7:47.88), Liu Ruiqi of China (7:55.69) and Huang Yi Ting of Taipei (8:14.36) in the medal race. Tokyo Olympian Cris Nievarez couldn’t get past the semis after finishing fourth in his men’s single sculls heat with a time of 7:25.65.
