Sara spokesman named DepEd assistant secretary
VICE President Sara Duterte’s spokesman, lawyer Reynold Munsayac, has been named assistant secretary of the Department of Education, which she heads as concurrent Education Secretary.
“As I move to the Department of Education from the Office of the Vice President, I wholeheartedly welcome the new challenges in public service,” he said in a Facebook post yesterday.
Munsayac, who had been the Vice President’s spokesman since June 2022, assumed his new position last October 1.
Munsayac was a commissioner and even became an acting chairman of the Presidential Commission on Good Government (PCGG) under the administration of former president Rodrigo Duterte before he resigned to join the younger Duterte’s presidential campaign team.
Sources said Munsayac he was moved to the DepEd because the Vice President needs him there following the resignation and retirement of some undersecretaries and assistant secretaries.
Last May, it was reported that DepEd Undersecretary for Administration Kristian Ablan and Assistant Secretary for Administration Christopher Lawrence Arnuco had resigned from their posts.
