Sara warns vs scammers using her name
MANILA, Philippines — Vice President Sara Duterte warned the public yesterday against individuals using her name to collect money “for politics,” saying these are scams that should be reported to police.
In a statement, Duterte said her office received reports that the individuals in question would introduce themselves as employees of the Bureau of Customs and other government agencies.
“Beware of people or groups who will collect money from you using my name… Their goal is to get money from you that will supposedly be used to fund my political campaign. This is a scam,” she said.
Duterte said she had never ordered anyone to raise money for politics or to collect money for any matter.
“Don’t be fooled. Report what you know about scams like this to the Philippine National Police,” she added.
Earlier, the Office of the Vice President also cautioned the public against a scam circulating on social media urging people to register for a supposed cash and gift distribution activity by the Vice President.
