Special non-working holiday in Bulacan

MALOLOS, Philippines — The people of Bulacan are enjoying a special non-working day today in observance of the anniversary of the First Philippine Republic.

The holiday was based on Proclamation 428 signed on Dec. 20, 2023 by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin on behalf of President Marcos.

The proclamation said the holiday would give residents an opportunity to celebrate and participate in events lined up for the occasion.

The inauguration of the First Philippine Republic took place at the Barasoain Church in Malolos on Jan. 22, 1899.
