Sports brand to donate P60 for every 10 minutes of movement

MANILA, Philippines — Sports apparel Adidas brought back its Move for the Planet campaign where the brand will donate up to €1.5 million (P93.6 million) for every 10 minutes of movement.

Between May 10 and 22, for every 10 minutes of movement logged on the brand's Running App, the brand will donate a euro (around P60) to charity movement Common Goal co-founded by footballer Juan Mata.

Common Goal will utilize the collected funds for education on sustainability and facilities enhancement to make them more resilient against extreme weather conditions.

Funds will also go toward creating publicly accessible training materials and sessions to assist organizations in transforming communites through sports.

As a result, the campaign is also supporting the United Nations' Climate Change – Sports for Climate Action to develop several training modules for sports and development.

The 10 minutes of movement is not limited to running. Individuals can also log movement for a hundred other activities like basketball, football, badminton, and indoor cycling, an improvement on the 34 sports last year.

In 2023 for the inaugural Move for the Planet campaign, running was the dominant activity logged for 63.1% of all participants, leaving walking (17.9%) and cycling (9.2%) far behind.

This year's local campaign kicked off last May 9 and saw around 200 people run three or five kilometers around Bonifacio Global City to begin the national clocking of minutes.
