'Surot' sa NAIA terminals ihiningi ng tawad, inaksyunan ng gobyerno | Pilipino Star Ngayon

MANILA, Philippines — Humingi ng paumanhin ang Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) matapos kumalat sa social media ang mga nakagat ng surot matapos magtungo sa Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) kamakailan.

Ilang pasahero kasi ang nakaranas nang matinding pangangati at pamamantal ng balat matapos magtungo sa NAIA terminal 2 at 3.

"Reports have reached the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) about social media posts of certain people who claim to have been bitten by bed bugs in Naia Terminals 2 and 3," wika ng MIAA nitong Miyerkules. 

"The MIAA apologizes to the victims and assures them that a speedy resolution to this can be expected."

Ayon sa US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), tumutukoy ang bed bugs o surot sa maliliit at parasitikong insekto na sumisipsip sa dugo ng tao at hayop habang natutulog. Maaaring mauwi sa secondary skin infection ang labis na pagkakamot buhat ng mga kagat nito.

Nakikita ito kahit sa mga five-star hotels at resorts, kung kaya't sinasabi ng mga eksperto na pwede itong manirahan kahit sa malilinis na lugar.

Agad namang inutusan ni MIAA General Manager Eric Ines ang terminal managers upang silipin ang isyu at makapagrekomenda ng mga nararapat na aksyon.

Naglatag na rin ng direktiba para sa pagsasagawa ng komprehensibong inspeksyon ng pasilidad maliban pa sa pinaigting na sanitation measures.

"Following an investigation, it was confirmed that our terminals received these complaints and that two of those who were bitten sought and were given medical assistance by our MIAA medical teams," patuloy ng ahensya.
 
"The seats identified in the reports have been pulled out permanently while disinfection schedules shall continue to be undertaken."

Nananawagan naman sa ngayon ng agarang fumigation sa NAIA ang Tourism Congress of the Philippines upang maiwasan ang pagkalat ng mga surot.

"Nakakahiya pero isolated case lang siya. Sana hindi siya maging medyo malaking issue," sabi ng presidente ng grupong si James Montenegro sa panayam ng TeleRadyo Serbisyo ngayong Huwebes.
