Up to 2 cyclones may enter PAR this month

MANILA, Philippines — One or two tropical cyclones may enter the Philippine area of responsibility this month.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said any of these cyclones may veer close to the country’s landmass before moving east without making landfall.

PAGASA said the weather system may also develop or enter at a lower point in the eastern section of Mindanao, tread toward Eastern Visayas, Bicol and Calabarzon before moving to the West Philippine Sea. In this scenario, the state weather bureau said the cyclone may recurve toward the waters off Northern Luzon.

No weather disturbance is expected to affect any part of the country until next week.

Easterlies and localized thunderstorms may bring isolated rains over Metro Manila and the rest of the country.

Meanwhile, PAGASA said 38 areas in the country may experience dangerous heat index levels today. The heat index could range between 42 to 26 degrees.

The agency warned the public against heat cramps and exhaustion as well as heat stroke with continued exposure to extreme heat.
