Voter registrants up to 3.2M

MORE Filipinos are looking to become registered voters in time for the May 2025 national and local polls as there are now over 3.2 million who have filed their applications with the Commission on Elections (Comelec).

Based on the latest Comelec data, there are now 3,210,523 applicants to become registered voters who filed applications from February 12 to May 28.

The Comelec had earlier projected that about three million would apply to become registered voters during the seven-month voter registration period.

Last week, the Comelec met its three million projected voter registrants.

The highest number of applicants comes from Calabarzon with 568,411; followed by the National Capital Region (463,364); Central Luzon (372,090); and Central Visayas (218,329).

Other regions with over 100,000 applicants are Davao Region (184,141), Western Visayas (177,355), Northern Mindanao (158,226), Bicol Region (142,383), Soccsksargen (137,539), Zamboanga Peninsula (127,019), Ilocos Region (124,482), Bangsamoro (119,696), and Eastern Visayas (111,958).

Having the lowest number of registrants are the Cordillera Administrative Region with 41,607; Mimaropa with 80,621; and Caraga with 81,789.

The voter registration period is set to end on September 30, 2024.
