Warriors edge Tamaraws in OT

MANILA, Philippines — University of the East stayed afloat in the Final Four race after hacking out a thrilling 87-86 overtime win over Far Eastern U in the UAAP Season 86 men’s basketball tournament yesterday at the Mall of Asia Arena.

Rey Remogat went supernova with a career-high 34 points on six triples spiced by six rebounds, eight assists and three steals as the Red Warriors improved to 4-6 thus crowding reigning champion Ateneo at No. 5.

Remogat erased his previous high of 27 points against Adamson and in the process became the first Red Warrior to breach the 30-point mark since Alvin Pasaol’s 32 in 2018.

The super sophomore drew ample support from Abdul Sawat with 20 points, six rebounds and five asssts as Jack Cruz-Dumont (9), Ryzel Gilbuena (7) and Wello Lingolingo (6) manufactured key help.

Later, La Salle got back on the University of the Philippines, 88-79, for its fourth straight win behind MVP race leader Kevin Quaimbao with 22 points, 12 rebounds, two assists and three steals.
