Aid ready for OFWs affected by UAE floods

THE Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said that it is extending all necessary assistance to Filipinos affected by the recent floods in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The DFA said that the Philippine Consulate General in Dubai is working closely with local authorities and Filipino community organizations in the country to reach out to those affected.

It added that the Department of Migrant Workers was in contact with the families of the three overseas Filipino workers who perished during the flooding.

The two Filipino women died due to suffocation while inside their vehicles.

The third victim, a male, died after sustaining significant injuries when his vehicle fell into a sinkhole at the height of the floods.

The Consulate said Filipinos stranded in the UAE due to canceled flights may contact Consular Matters at +971 4 220 7100, Assistance to Nationals Matters at +971 56 501 5756, or Migrant Workers Office-Dubai at +971 56 353 5558 / +971 50 558 5536.

The Consulate said it has resumed full operations since Friday.
