CHR nabahala sa polyetong ginamit 'pang-red-tag' sa Taytay SHS seminar | Pilipino Star Ngayon

MANILA, Philippines — Ikinabahala ng Commission on Human Rights (CHR) ang diumano'y pamamahagi ng red-tagging pamphlets ng miyembro ng Armed Forces of the Philippines sa isang seminar sa Taytay Senior High School.

Ika-25 ng Mayo nang ireklamo ni Rep. Raoul Manuel (Kabataan Party-list) ang pamamahagi ng mga naturang polyeto, bagay na nagsasabing "makikita sa protesta" ang mga "recruiter" ng Communist Party of the Philippines - New People's Army (CPP-NPA).

"Participating in protest and dissent are forms of public expression used to voice grievances, not to identify themselves as part of an insurgency or communist armed rebellion," sabi ng CHR ngayong Miyerkules.

"Regardless of political orientation and ideology, participating in a protest is an exercise of fundamental human rights, allowing individuals to express their concerns and demand change."

Gayunpaman, wala raw silang ginagawang red-tagging.

"Nowhere in the said materials does it characterize rallyists as terrorists. It merely informed the students of the modus operandi of recruiters of the New People’s Army (NPA) which is factual and based on evidence," sabi ng NSC.

"We strongly deny any accusations of 'red-tagging.' The seminar in question focused only on NPA recruitment and did not target any other organization."
